Day 13
Eminence, MO to Houston, MO
35 miles

It was a good riding day, although the humidity was very high and it was 92 degrees by 3:00 pm. The hills were more rolling and less steep climbs. We are always looking for shade to take a rest stop – about once an hour. This afternoon we found a new church front porch to be the right shading spot. As we were laying on their porch, the pastor came.

He was very kind and showed us the church they are constructing themselves with donated labor. He also explained that we are in Texas County, Missouri. Due to its remoteness, it has the highest drug production and sale per capita in the USA.

The steep hills gradually gave way to a high plateau with tall, rich grasslands with cattle and horses in abundance.
